WEST VENN FARM
INVESTIGATION
The client had noticed that the wind farm settlement metering was not recording the same import kWH values as the clients check meter. We were requested to investigate the issue and carry out necessary rectification works where necessary.
An on-site investigation at the wind turbine transformer proved the metering was installed correctly and was recording accurately. At the HV substation 2.5km away the settlement meter was confirmed to be programmed correctly.
An inspection of the CT's supplying the settlement meter, however, identified that the earthing cable was incorrectly installed and therefore creating an additional load.
The solution was to power down the turbine, rewire the earthing correctly, take meter reads and monitor
to ensure this had fully rectified the problem.
Additionally, it was identified that further CTs on the photovoltaic (PV) system has the same issue and that rectification works would be required.
